Real Madrid are poised to sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in January, as the club look to strengthen, after a poor start has left them eight points adrift of Barcelona.
Bilbao had been in negotiations with their number one as they attempted to tie him down to a new contract, but Los Blancos look set to poach Kepa at a cut-price, according to Don Balon.
It’s understood that the 23-year-old, who has been linked with Arsenal, does not want a release clause of €75m putting in his contract, and as a result is refusing to discuss new terms with his Bilbao.
The signing for Real would prove as a welcome boost to Jose Mourinho and his side, who will almost certainly have David de Gea on board with them for a longer period as a result.
