Roberto Di Matteo says he is confident of returning to management and is open-minded as to where.
Di Matteo won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012 and also enjoyed success at Championship level when he won promotion with West Brom in 2010.
The Italian has been out of work since being sacked by Aston Villa in October 2016 and though he told Goals on Sunday he had turned down a string of offers to return sooner, he remains keen to step back into the dugout.
"You feel it after a while - you feel you want to have that fire in your belly again," he said, speaking on the Sky Sports show. "I'm going to manage again, it's just a question of time.
"I've had loads of offers; in fact, the more you tell people you're not really interested in a coaching position, the more offers you get it seems!"
Di Matteo spent seven months at Schalke, guiding the side from 11th to third in the Bundesliga before resigning in May 2015, citing a difference in opinion with club chiefs over plans for the new season.
But he admitted he relished his short time in Germany and hinted another chance in Europe would appeal.
"My German experience was fantastic," he said. "To be able to work in the Bundesliga with the quality of players - there are so many young players who actually have the opportunity to play in the first team - was great. Every team was well organised and it was very competitive
"I speak a few languages and I'm always looking to learn and expand my horizons so I'm open-minded."
Di Matteo was axed by Chelsea just six months after leading the club to a famous first Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich and while he admitted owner Roman Abramovich was not "easy" to work with, he bears no grudges.
"That's football - look at Claudio Ranieri at Leicester," he said.
"My relationship (with Abramovich) was pretty good. I wouldn't exactly say easy but most owners aren't! He is very involved and passionate about the club.
"It's one of the highlights of my managerial career for certain," he said of the Munich victory. "But I'm a person who prefers to look forward rather than backward."
