SENATOR representing
Kaduna Central, Senator
Shehu Sani has reinvigorated
the popular outcry about the
ongoing anti graft war, saying
that for the fight against
corruption to be successful, it
must be all encompassing.
“The government must
arrest both friends and foes,” he
said
Sani reiterated that if the fight
against corruption must succeed
it must not be limited to those
out of power or the oppositions
alone.
“It must not always be limited
to people who disagree politically
with the ruling political party or
enemies of the ruling APC party.
“It should be extended to the
friends of the ruling party as long
as they are corrupt. If you arrest
enemies of President, also arrest
friends of President who are
corrupt”, he said.
Sani who spoke during
an emergency private visit to
members of the National Union
of Journalist at their Secretariat
in Kaduna, said even though
President Muhammadu Buhari
has significantly addressed the
problems of the country, there are
still challenges.
He said “I am here to encourage
you”, stressing that as journalists,
it’s their duty and that of national
assembly members to keep the
citizens enlightened on their
fundamental rights.
“I am here to encourage you
to do your job without fear of
intimidation. Some of us will
never compromise as much as
possible because of power.
“As President, Governors,
Senators and Reps., our conduct
should reflect our office as
leaders”, he explained.
Senator Sani urged journalists
to continue to uphold to tenet of
their profession for been objective
and accurate in their reportage,
as Society depend on them for
knowledge, despite the risk and
hazard of the job.
