5 Super Eagles players that impressed in the World Cup Qualifier against Algeria

The Super Eagles who had already qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia traveled to Algeria to play an inconsequential World Cup qualifier and they were forced to a 1-1 draw.
John Ogu’s second half curler was cancelled out by a very late penalty converted by Yacine Brahimi.
These are the five players that gave a good account of themselves in the game;
1. John Ogu
The midfielder was the shinning light in midfield for the Super Eagles, every good move from the Eagles’ midfield came through Ogu.

The midfielder has had limited time playing for Nigeria since the qualifier started but his performance against Algeria oozed confidence ahead of Russia 2018.

2. Shehu Abdullahi

Shehu was pure class in this encounter. Providing accurate attacking option down the right flank for the Eagles, and defensively he was never found wanting also.

Though he was the one that controversially brought down Brahimi leading to the penalty that resulted in the equalizer.
It is still with relieve that we can say that the right back option of the Super Eagles is well sealed.
3. Leon Balogun
The Mainz defender and captain for the game was solid as usual for the Super Eagles at the back, the defender who just recovered from injury has been one of Super Eagles most consistent footballers through out the qualifying process.

4.Willian Troost-Ekong
A member of the now very famous ‘oyibo wall’.
Troost-Ekong like his partner Balogun put up a highly decent performance shutting out every threat from the host. Had a very decent night.

The Bursapor is definitely one for Nigerians to look forward to in the nearest future.
5. Alex Iwobi
The Arsenal midfielder was the creative spark for the Super Eagles in midfield, the young midfielder scored Nigeria’s crucial goal against Zambia that qualified them to the World Cup in 2018.

He was a handful for the Algerian midfield with his silky touches and moves on the ball. His end product could have been better if only the pitch was not bubbly.
